June 17 Last Day in Singapore
06-27-06 | 09:50

Three days in Singapore were over much too quickly. I returned to Orchard this day and prepared for my overland journey across Malayasia to Bangkok.

As I final became accustomed to the new city, I was ready to depart. It was saturday so the Orchard shopping area was packed to the brim with people. I was able to record and shoot a lot of good pictures of this unique controlled culture.

I am interested in the way how most people obey the simple law of jaywalking. There are few law-breakers in there but overall it is amazing how people rigorously follow the rules. It makes you question if stricter laws would be better. This also cuts both ways because it stifles creativity. I wondered if I would enjoy living in Singapore. It would be a nice city to have as a base but not to stay in exclusively.

But overall, the people in Singapore were kind and warm especially some nice taxi drivers who were quite talkative.

My last night, I went to the only 24 hour store in Singapore, Mustafa's. It is in Little India not far from where i was staying. Mustafa's had the feeling of being in India. I enjoyed a late night curry and bought a some things for my overland train trip.

Another long train journey, I do love trains.

Much more soon....Paul
