The first couple of days in Hong Kong! June 10th, 2006

Hong Kong is collage, like the movie we are making. It is diverse in culture, environment, architecture, people, spirituality, etc. I love it here. If I could spend a year I definitely would. To say that there is something for everyone is quite the understatement!!!
The first day we arrived we went out and took some night snaps, got settled in and prepared for the Hong Kong schedule. We first met with Stephanie S. H. Chin, a poet, writer and so much more. She has been a great help to us since day one and we appreciate her kind heart and hard work for the AWAKE project. In addition to our already packed schedule, she has arranged many more interviews and is possibly trying to kill us!! Just Kidding!! We are grateful.
We have only been here 3 days and we have had about 15 interviews. The first day we met with Stephanie she took us on a little sight seeing, we had and interview in a park and then she accompanied us to our next interview with Woody-Li. Woody is an artist and has a workspace at the cattle depot, which is a restored artist community that was what its name suggests! We had a wonderful night with woody and Clara-Cheng and her husband Gum the curator of the cattle depot. They invited us to an exhibition the following night of young Hong Kong artist. It was a blast and we became sort of an exhibition ourselves as one of the artist allowed us to be part of his exhibition. We had two chairs set up, the camera, and the monitor facing the people so they could watch themselves as they were interviewed. It was 3 hours of non-stop interviewing. FANTASTIC. I was really inspired by all of the artist and their very cool installations. They seemed, to me at least, to be very self reflective and aware. I had a blast. I am editing clips for the website tonight. Today we interviewed a beautiful Poet who is deserving of another blog, so that will be next. We are of course packed with interviews and have been slower than usual with the website, but it now seems to be picking up. I hope you enjoy!
Love Jeff
P.S. finish the pics on the next blog.
