May 18 Indie Rock in Seoul
05-30-06 | 12:37
Seoul was definitely rocking on Thursday. Jeff and I seemed to think that it was Friday but luckily it was still thursday. We had three great interviews with some Indie Rock promoters and a rock writer.
The interview was in the center of Seoul in the Myeong-dong area. There was Cynthia Lyette (rock promoter) from Austin, Yunjeong Hong (rock promoter) from Seoul, and Zakka Kim (rock writer) from Seoul.
All the interviewees really came alive with laughter and cheer. The writer, Zakka Kim, looked quiet at first but he really opened up in his interview. Cynthia and Yunjeong were able to bounce off each other as they tumbled down the rabbit hole of awake film.
We grabbed a drink and some corn chips at a local watering hole. Jim Morrison seemed to own the place with his picture plastered everywhere. The Morrison bar is named Woodstock. Yunjeong told me about her interest in Tibet and visiting the Dalia Lama. She also taught me some Korean gestures.
Our first day went off well and I look forward in capturing and sharing all of the wonderful stories which we will discover every day.
