Conviction of the heart! Tim Peters!
05-14-06 | 10:55

We got the chance to interview Tim Peters today from "Helping Hands Korea." Inspirational to me....I think so...I cried! Tim is on the cover of Time magazine Asia, May 1st, for his efforts with North Korean Refugees. I will probably not have any clips of him up until tomorrow because of scheduling, but there will probably be many edits! I don't idolize him but he is an enigma! He is a Christian, in the true sense, and somehow made his way to Asia and ended up doing what he is with North Korea. We interviewed outside at a park, and although a little uncomfortable on our butts, it was perfect.
How can I explain this man to you? Well first you must get a copy of Time Asia, the may 1st issue, since they are much better writers than me! Then I guess I can make an attempt, only knowing him for an hour and a half, to explain how important he was/is to me!
First off all, we have to give props to his wife and five children that moved with him 50 times in 30 years. It must have been hard, but there was a reason. He gave his life at 21 to serve others and became a Christian. He has had a pretty incredible life to say the least and seemed to me to have a true conviction in his heart to serve and help the planet. His current work with Helping Hands is inspiring. The horror that the North Koreans are experiencing under their current leader is atrocious! The things he told us about how the refugees are tortured and hurt, made me cry. I also was a bit nervous to check out that we were not being watched. Seriously, even though, he feels quite safe, he has put his life on the line for these people and rightfully so. When I asked if he was afraid for his life, he said not really, but that there were many North Korean agents in South Korea. But, he felt like the cover of time provided him some protection against any action to him. Wow! A person who risk their life for others...without hesitation...because he has been led to do that with his life, well I don't know about you but I see some major value in that. He was very pleasant to talk to and is going to try to set up some interviews for us later on down the road with some North Koreans. Don't miss his clips!
I feel overwhelmed or smothered with Grace today! I am so lucky to be able to get to do this.... the little bit that I can.... for the world. I feel changed! And yes I cried with him, after the interview, and it felt great!
Love Jeff
